Bridal shopping made simple...this weekend!

Bridal fairs are a key resource for the busy bride: a wealth of the information you're seeking all in one place, saving you trips all around the area in favor of the time-saving opportunity to check out multiple vendors in person at a single, central locale. Hard to say no to that, especially in the early stages of planning.

This coming Sunday, February 27th, Bridgeport Village in Tigard is holding their annual "Very Engaging Bridal Event" from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All kinds of wedding vendors will be present, including us! Stop by and say hello: we'll be peeking our heads in at Mapel Boutique, a snazzy new addition to the shopping center. This place is full of great fashion finds, and is adorably chic to boot. Mapel is conveniently located across from The Container Store adjacent to the parking garage.

Why hire a day-of coordinator?




Brides-to-be spend a lot of time mulling over each aspect of their big day. Dress, venue, caterer, florist, rings. But one role that often gets overlooked - or seen as just a nice 'extra' - is a wedding coordinator. Yet a surprising number of newlyweds will tell you it was the best money spent. Why? Think of it this way: After all those months of planning out each lovely detail, why would you not make sure someone is in place to run everything according to the plans you've painstakingly put in place?

As DOCs, it is our job to make your day run as smoothly as possible, to foresee and then troubleshoot any problems that may crop up. We help you iron out all of the last-minute details, ask the questions no one else has thought to ask, and are right there in the thick of things on your wedding day so you can relax and enjoy the event. You can think of us as your back-up plan.

Examples of the services we provide for our clients:
·  Create a comprehensive portfolio of documents specific to the wedding, including master contact list and wedding day itinerary.
·  Contact all vendors prior to the event to share collective contact info, confirm arrival times, etc.
·  Act as facilitator of rehearsal at wedding site or partner with officiant or site coordinator to do so.
·  Be present and available on site on the wedding date to oversee preparations, photos, ceremony, reception and send-off of the couple.
·  Serve as point person on the event date to greet and liaison with vendors, officiants, bridal party, family members, guests, etc. to ensure smooth communication, event flow and event execution across all aspects of the wedding.
·  Make available a comprehensive “emergency kit” for the bridal suite.


Is it really necessary to hire someone to help out in this capacity?


All the things we quietly take care of that day would fall to someone else ~ likely a close friend or family member who deserves to relax and celebrate along with you. And while certain minimal tasks will likely be delegated to members of your wedding party, a professional coordinator on hand frees up everyone else from much of the heavy lifting. Plus, it's important for a bride to have complete confidence in knowing her go-to person has done it all before. Your wedding day will be such a whirlwind anyway; you want to be able to take it all in…not waste time fretting about whether Aunt Sue will remember to bring extra bobby pins or make sure there's a knife on the cake table.


What about full wedding planner services?

Both of us are stay-at-home moms who place priority on that time with our young families, but enjoy coordinating weddings as our part-time job. So while we don't do full wedding planner services, our day-of services actually flesh out to involve us about 3 months before the wedding date.* This allows adequate time to bring us fully up to speed, for us to offer additional insights, and for our clients to feel confident in our partnership. We limit the number of weddings we take on to allow us to better focus on each bride and give her wedding our full attention and effort.

* We do offer consultations before that point for an hourly fee.


How are you unique?

Double-Checked Weddings essentially provides the expertise of two wedding coordinators behind your wedding day for the price of one. While one of us will take the lead to manage each event, our brides know that they also benefit from our "two heads is better than one" approach in the pre-planning and troubleshooting leading up to the big day. Not every wedding needs two coordinators present, but every Double-Checked Wedding has the advantage of an additional dose of experience lended to the event, ensuring any potential hiccups are dealt with long before they become an issue. We absolutely love providing this peace of mind to our clients and take pride in the knowledge that they can look back on their wedding day as one of the best in their lives.

Welcome to Double-Checked Weddings - the blog! We are excited to be taking this next step in making our services known, and are happy that you stopped in to check us out.

A bit of introduction: we ~ Hannah Brownlee and Marisa Coleman ~ specialize in day-of wedding coordination. Our clients bring us on in the final stages of their planning to pull everything together and execute their vision, making sure the rehearsal and wedding day go according to plan. This provides the freedom and peace of mind that comes from handing the reins over to a qualified professional who will help pull off a memorable, efficient, stress-free wedding day.

Our goal for this blog is to give you a better look at us and what we do and to update often with useful information for those planning their upcoming nuptials.
